A yellow ribbon to say yes to the prevention of child abuse.
Every year, on the World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse on 19 November, Terre des Hommes continues in its aim to raise awareness about how to prevent any form of child abuse through its “I protect children” campaign and associated symbol: the yellow ribbon.
40 million children around the world are victims of sexual abuse, 1.2 million are forced into hard labour or the sex trade, and some 275 million are exposed to domestic violence, often becoming victims themselves.
That’s why Terre des Hommes wants everyone to wear this symbolic yellow ribbon symbolically during the world week for the prevention of child abuse from 13 to 19 November 2010.
Patrizia Pepe donned the yellow ribbon last year, and has been working with Terre des Hommes since April 2010 to do something important (which is albeit only the first step in the huge scheme of what actually needs to be done)(for the Casa del Sole di Haiti children’s home, by raising funds through the sale of t-flag t-shirts. Do you remember the video? (There was also the one Patrizia wore in the backstage clips from the advert… take a look at our You Tube page http://www.youtube.com/patriziapepe).
We’d now like to bring on board as many of our Fans, Followers and Fashionistas who want to be a part of the various Terre des Hommes initiatives…
To help raise funds you can buy a t-shirt, a yellow ribbon, send a TXT message or be part of it and spread this message by downloading the ribbon image and post it on your Facebook profile this week (13 -19 November). That way, all your friends and friends of friends will learn about and be able to help Terre des Hommes in this important initiative!
A massive thanks to everyone for your help.
